Monsters on Mainstreet, Brookfield’s annual downtown trick-or-treating event, had its 20-year run of excellent weather snapped on Oct. 26 when heavy rains forced cancellation of the costume contest. Still, some 700 people turned out for the event, which featured pumpkin and taffy apple giveaways and sweet treats from participating businesses on Grand Boulevard and Broadway Avenue.
