Barbara Vacala (nee Spurney), 82, of Brookfield, died of multiple myeloma cancer on Dec. 7, 2019.
Born on Nov. 24, 1937, she was a graduate of Proviso High School and will be remembered as an engaging and friendly waitress at Brookfield Restaurant where she worked for over 25 years.
Ms. Vacala enjoyed traveling, particularly her trips to Disney World, and playing cards and bingo with her friends.
She was the wife of the late George Vacala, who died in 1996; the mother of David (Victoria) Vacala and Shirley (Jim) Gialamas; the grandmother of Summer (Chase) Thurman and Kylie Vacala; and the half-sister of Diane (Tim) Golema, Walter (Glory) Smith and Robert Smith.
Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 12 at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 7750 Cermak Road in Forest Park. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 13, also at Woodlawn Funeral Home.
