Longtime Riverside Library employee

Mary Lou Shroyer, 83, of Berwyn and of formerly North Riverside died October 31, 2019, after a brief illness. Her final days were spent with her family at her side. Ms. Shroyer was born Dec. 28, 1935, in Chicago and raised in Pilsen by her beloved aunt and uncle, Helen and Frank Svec.

She worked for Burny Brothers Bakery and Matsushita Electronics before obtaining her library technical services certificate and working at the Riverside Public Library from 1993-2015. Ms. Shroyer loved work, antiquing, movies, and most of all fixing up her house.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Eleanor (nee Curtis) Christensen; her son, Joseph Shroyer (Lynn); and her former husband, Raymond Shroyer. She is survived by her daughters, Raeann Fuller (James) and Sharon Shroyer; her grandchildren, Courtney Grotelueschen (Jon), Raymond Shroyer (Alyssa), William Shroyer; and her great grandson, Joseph Shroyer; her sisters, Christina Eggen (late Robert), Geri Plockelman (late George), Bonnie Kerr (Bruce); and her aunt, Jean Ellen Ewert (late David).

A memorial Mass will be held at St. Christina Church, 3342 W. 111th St., Chicago, on Saturday, Dec. 28, at 11 a.m.
