Brookfield residents have defeated a referendum for a new library, yet we are on the verge of getting one anyway. I am unaware of any community group, other than the library board, clamoring for a new one.

I agree with Rev. Sokol that we need a community center with a well-appointed gym much more than we need a new library. Keep the existing library and put a state-of-art recreation center/gym across the street.

We could ask the queen of Sokoltown, Linda, if that would be OK with her. Of course, this new facility would still be named after her.
