North Riverside Park Mall, 7501 Cermak Road, which sustained damage to entrances and stores in a looting spree on May 31, has announced it will reopen its doors to the public on Friday, June 12.

The modified hours and social distancing requirements it had announced previously will be in effect.

“We look forward to welcoming the community back to North Riverside Park Mall,” said Lidia Darkova, the mall’s marketing director, in a press release. “As we look to reopen, we are working with local police, government and health officials to ensure a safe and healthy environment for our shoppers, tenants and employees. This is and always has been our highest priority.”

The mall’s hours will be Monday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday, noon to 6 p.m. The shopping center’s doors will open one-hour prior to stores opening.

Employees and customers must wear face coverings in the mall, and stores will be limited to a maximum of 50 percent capacity or five customers per 1,000 square feet of retail space.

Food court restaurants will be open, but orders must be carried out or picked up curbside. The kids’ play area on the lower level is closed and seating in other common areas will be limited to provide social distancing.

Mall officials also are reinstituting the strict cleaning protocols that had been in place prior to the statewide shutdown of shopping centers in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Barriers at all mall entrances were removed June 8 to allow shoppers access to Sears, which reopened Monday, and for Olive Garden and Miller’s Ale House to resume carryout/curbside service.
