The Hollywood Avenue grade crossing over the Burlington Northern-Santa Fe Railroad tracks in Brookfield will be closed to traffic until early morning on Monday, Sept. 21, so residents of and visitors to South Hollywood will need to enter/exit the neighborhood via Waubansee Road off of First Avenue.

The BNSF surprised village officials with the closure, said Assistant Village Manager George Issakoo, who said they only found out about the closure when they saw signs stacked up at the crossing on Sept. 17, the day the closure was to begin.

“We are reaching out to BNSF to ensure we receive proper notification in the future,” Issakoo said.

Crews will be completing the BNSF’s 2020 gang tie project, said Issakoo, changing out railroad ties in this section of the rail line over the weekend.
