Jacqueline “Jackie” Herbst died at the age of 90 of advanced Alzheimer’s while in residence at Belvedere Nursing Care in Hot Springs, Arkansas, on Jan. 3, 2021.
She was preceded in death in 2013 by her husband of 62 years, Clifford “Skip” Herbst. Both were born and raised in Rock Island and married there in 1950. They moved to suburban Chicago in 1959 and raised their family in Wilmette and Riverside, where Ms. Herbst was broker/owner of First Service Realtors before retiring to Hot Springs Village in 1992.
Jackie and Skip enjoyed over 20 retirement years in Arkansas playing bridge, traveling and as golf members of Diamante Country Club. She stayed active with hobbies including genealogy, DAR, sewing, quilting, handcrafts and serving two terms as village garden club president.
Ms. Herbst is survived by three children and their spouses, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, including her son Larry (Judy), granddaughter Alison (Rick) Espinoza (great-grandchildren Ryan and Keira) and grandson Brad (Sabrina) Herbst (great-granddaughter, Emma); her daughter Lisa (Bill) Noirot and grandson Rob; and her son Rick (Sarah) and grandsons Ben, Alex, Jack and Charlie Herbst.
Due to coronavirus, there will be no celebration of life at this time. Their remains will be interred later this year in the garden mausoleum at Kirk in the Pines Presbyterian Church.
