A westbound freight train struck and killed a man near the Cowley Road crossing of the Burlington Northern-Santa Fe Railroad in Riverside at about 12:50 p.m. on June 4.
Details are scarce at this time, but Riverside paramedics responded to the scene and reported finding the victim east of Cowley Road, where they pronounced him dead. The body was turned over to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.
All rail traffic was suspended while emergency personnel were on scene, with full train activity able to begin running again around 3 p.m.
