This summer you can fill your wardrobe to a T. Local groups are helping to get you limited edition T-shirts of a Riverside nature that will not only have you recognized by your good taste in fashion as a supporter of some great local organizations.

Caledonia Senior Living and Memory Care — or as you may still call it, the Scottish Home — at 2800 Desplaines Ave. in North Riverside, is selling T-shirts to honor Scottish heritage with a different “hero” remembered on a shirt each month.

This month the Scottish honoree is Jim Clark, winner of the Indianapolis 500 in 1965. There are also two children’s shirts, featuring the Loch Ness monster and a unicorn.  Proceeds will go to support people who live and work at Caledonia. Information can be found at chicagoscots.itemorder.com/sale.

You can be a Friend of the Fourth in Riverside by purchasing a limited edition T-shirt, which will help fund the July 2 concert in Guthrie Park, which is put on completely through private donations. This year’s striking dragon fly-inspired shirt design was created by Riverside resident Pat Cornolo of Speakeasy Custom Tattoo in Wicker Park.

You can go on line to see the design and/or order one by clicking here. Stand out in the crowd and show your support for Friends of the Fourth with the purchase of a shirt.

Hey runners, this year the 5K race will be held on June 26 and you can get a T-shirt by signing up and participating. This year the race is being called the Friends of the Fourth 5K and you guessed it, proceeds will benefit the Friends of the Fourth concert. Visit riverside.il.us/185/Friends-of-the-Fourth-5K to sign up and lace up those running shoes.

Kayakers ready? The annual Scuff Gross Regatta is planned for June 27, and this year an original T-shirts will be available. The design is the work of two students from Riverside-Brookfield High School. Proceeds will go to the Riverside Township Lions Club. Visit the Riverside Township Lions Club District 1A page on Facebook for information.

Most organizations’ fundraising efforts were affected by COVID-19, so they are looking to other ways to raise money. Wouldn’t it be nice to show your philanthropic side while wearing one or all of the above T-shirts? Show that you not only have heart but you have style, as we try to get back where we were over a year ago.
