On Wednesday, July 7 there was yet another tragic accident on the corner of Prairie and Grant in Brookfield (“Man injured in SUV, motorcycle crash in Brookfield,” July 7, RBLandmark.com).

Longtime residents have seen accidents and near misses over and over. Prairie is a 30 mph road through downtown Brookfield. There is no stop sign one block before the train tracks as there is on Grand Boulevard. This is an absolutely dangerous intersection.

Anyone trying to turn from Grant cannot see because of the parked cars lining the street. With Grand Boulevard closed on the weekends, the odds are increasing for yet another accident.

No survey is needed to install a stop sign; the numerous accident reports are proof enough. The stop sign needs to be installed now. When accidents can be prevented, choosing to do nothing is clearly irresponsible.
