Helen Martinkus (nee Gerchas), 95, of North Riverside, died Aug. 29, 2021.
Ms. Martinkus was born Jan. 22, 1926 in Mason City, Iowa. All enjoyed her delicious cooking and wonderful hospitality.
She was dedicated to Mater Christi Church and loved serving as president of the Sisters of St. Casimir auxiliary for many years. She was a member of Catholic Daughters Club, a Cub Scouts den mom and a member of Mater Christi Ladies Guild.
Ms. Martinkus was the wife of the late Anthony Martinkus; the mother of James (Anne) and Susan (Bob) Foody; the grandmother of Wendy, Amy, Jocelyn, Lisa, Jessica, Chase and her many great grandchildren who were the loves of her life; the sister of late Julia Cook; and a dear friend to many
