Joan Frieberg-Halas

Joan Frieberg-Halas (nee Rapp), 89, of Elmhurst and formerly of Brookfield, died Aug. 23, 2021.

Ms. Frieberg-Halas loved reading and would often tell people that she “hasn’t stopped reading since she learned to read.” She said yes to every adventure due to her love for traveling, hiking, camping and the outdoors.

Every May you could find her in Indianapolis or in front of her TV as she watched the Indy 500. Some of her other favorite things included collecting giraffes and “The Wizard of Oz.” She enjoyed cheering on the Badgers as a University of Wisconsin alumna and a proud member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority.

She was retired from a job working in the office of a medical insurance company.

Ms. Frieberg-Halas was the wife of the late George J. Halas; the mother of Bradley (Kathi) Frieberg, Blair (Laura) Frieberg, Kurtis (Jennifer) Frieberg; the grandmother of Diana (Ross) Plattner, Meredith (Andrew) Henson, Jennifer (Ryan) Ramshaw and Melissa (Benjamin) Brondos; the great grandmother of Miles Henson and Cole Henson; the sister of the late Jayne (the late Herbert) Dunker and Bill (the late Sallie) Rapp; and a friend to many.
