Bernice M. Azzarello (nee Asire), 93, of Mayslake Village in Oak Brook and formerly of North Riverside, died Oct. 15, 2021 at St. Patrick’s Residence Home in Naperville.
Ms. Azzarello was a devout Catholic and longtime parishioner of Mater Christi Church in North Riverside. She cherished her faith and family and prayed the rosary daily for a multitude of intentions. She was a regular viewer of Fox News and was always eager to discuss politics and the state of the country.
She had a special devotion to St. Padre Pio and was fond of his quote: “Pray, hope, and don’t worry.” She had an incredible sense of humor which she maintained until the very end.
Ms. Azzarello was the wife of the late Joseph W. Azzarello DDS; the mother of Christina (Tom) Mahar and Paul (Margaret) Azzarello; the grandmother of Mallory (Marty) McKenna, Maggie (fiancé David Bashton) Mahar and Jenna Azzarello; and the great-grandmother of Zoey Alice McKenna.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. Private interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
