I want to thank everyone involved in making the annual Run for 102 a huge success. This was the first year it was hosted by Congress Park Elementary. It is a long list, including the Brookfield Police Department, the Brookfield Public Works Department, staff from District 102, our sponsors, parents and volunteers from across the district and especially our Run for 102 Committee.
Many families — ours included — moved to Brookfield and to the Congress Park neighborhood specifically because we saw a place where our children could thrive. Run for 102 is the kind of event which justifies our decision. Our family has only been here for three years — and not quite the most normal three years! — but in this time we have seen so much of what we had hoped for.
If you haven’t volunteered in the community lately — for a school or library or church or youth sports or anything else — come on out! All of these worthwhile activities are always looking to involve people. A lot of us are super busy and can definitely feel worn down from these hectic times. Being a vital part of an inclusive, welcoming community is a huge part of what makes it all worth it.
