Rhonda Lee Cermak, 68, a longtime resident of Brookfield, died May 26, 2022, surrounded by family.
She was born in Oak Park on April 18, 1954, and had lived in her home in the Hollywood section of Brookfield since she was 5 years old. After graduating from Riverside-Brookfield High School she worked at Frank Buresh’s Lobster House, holding several positions and making many lifelong friends.
Upon receiving her R.N., she passionately cared for our veterans as an emergency room nurse at Hines Veterans Administration Hospital. She also spoke often of the wonderful friends she had made during her years at Hines.
Ms. Cermak was artistically talented and was always able to add charm and beauty to anything plain and ordinary. Her talent eventually became an avocation and she, with her loyal and good friend Mary Movrich, designed and sold exquisite glass creations.
Her family meant the world to her, and Ms. Cermak dearly loved and kept an incredibly close bond with her high school girl friends.
By far, most important in her life was her husband and best friend, John Cisneros, who died eight months ago, after 30 wonderful years together.
Ms. Cermak was preceded in death by her parents, Emily and Dennis Cermak. Those who will never forget her thoughtfulness and generosity are her siblings, Denise (David) Kendrick and Jeffrey (Donna) Cermak; her step daughter, Lisa (Keith) Ladendorf; her and grandson, Donavan; her nieces, Jacquelyn (Adam) Humphreys and Jamie Cermak (Matthew); and her nephews Mark (Leslie) Kendrick and Ryan Cermak.
A memorial visitation will be held Saturday, June 4 from 9:30 a.m. until time of memorial service at 12:30 p.m. at Johnson-Nosek Funeral Home, 3847 Prairie Ave. in Brookfield.
Memorial donations are appreciated to an animal shelter of choice.
