David M. Moreau, 75, of Riverside, died Dec. 3, 2022 at his home.
Mr. Moreau worked as a brakeman with the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad. After retiring from that career, he launched Grumpy’s Café in the Arcade Building in downtown Riverside. The coffeeshop/ice cream parlor would become a beloved local gathering place for nearly 20 years, closing in 2013.
He was the father Andrea (Jed Marshall) Moreau and Leah Moreau; the grandfather of Nora and Celest Marshall and Evie Moreau; the brother of Timothy (Mary Jo Bovy) Moreau, Patricia Walter-Manos and the late Michael Moreau; the uncle of Katie and a dear friend of many.
There will be a memorial gathering Friday, Dec. 9 from 10 to 11:45 a.m. at Ivins/Moravecek Funeral Home, 80 E. Burlington St., Riverside, followed by a funeral Mass at noon at St. Mary Church, 126 Herrick Road, Riverside.
