With all 12 precincts in Brookfield reporting in the race for four seats on the Brookfield Public Library Board of Trustees, it looks like it may take a little while before we find out who has won the final spot.

According to unofficial results posted by the Cook County Clerk on April 4, just one vote separates incumbent J. Edgar Mihelic and newcomer Karl Olson, who had 882 and 881 votes, respectively, late on election night.

The other three spots are not in doubt, with first-time candidate Jennifer Paliatka leading the field comfortably with 1,064 votes and incumbent Linda Kampschroeder in second with 1,006 votes.

Mitzi Norton, another first-time candidate looks to have claimed the third seat on the board with 988 votes.

Mail-in ballots remain to be tallied, so the numbers are expected to shift a little bit and may prove decisive for either Mihelic or Olson.
