Junior catcher Zoe Levine had a home run, two doubles, four hits and four runs batted in as the Riverside-Brookfield High School softball team defeated Ridgewood 16-8 on April 25.

Abby Weinert (3 for 3, 2 doubles, 2 RBIs), Ellie Megall (3 for 5, triple, 2 RBIs), Kelley Tyler (2 for 4, 2 RBIs) and Lianna Noel (2 for 5, 2 RBIs) also had multiple hits for the Bulldogs (11-6, 4-3 in Metro Suburban Conference). Weinert struck out eight in 5.1 inning pitched. 

Levine is now hitting .556 with three homers, 24 RBIs and 17 doubles. Megall (.439, 1 HR, 20 RBIs, 5 doubles) and Ella Jurgens (.405, 2 HR, 9 RBIs, 6 doubles) also are above .400.

On April 26, Emily Organ smacked a fifth-inning grand slam to break a 1-1 tie, but the Bulldogs lost at Immaculate Conception Catholic Prep 12-5. 

The Knights scored six runs in the bottom of the fifth and five in the sixth. Organ and Trinity Stevenson each had two hits.

The Bulldogs (11-7, 4-2 in MSC) blanked Elmwood Park 4-0 on April 27 for their seventh straight victory and third shutout of the season.

Junior pitcher Cooper Marrs turned in another stellar performance, a one-hitter with 10 strikeouts and two walks. The Tigers’ lone hit was a two-out double in the first.

Marrs (3-2) now has 32 strikeouts in 26.1 innings and lowered his earned-run average to 2.94. He also shut out Aurora Central Catholic 2-0 on April 18.

Jaime Izaguirre had two of the Bulldogs’ six hits. Marrs, who tripled, Wes Deason and Joey Garvey had hits and runs batted in. 

RBHS boys volleyball

The Bulldogs (15-9, 4-0 in MSC) remained undefeated in conference play with a 25-19, 22-25, 25-11 victory at Wheaton Academy on April 25 behind Sebastian Ciszewski (9 kills, 4 blocks, 2 aces, 10 points), Sam Shelven (8 kills, 5 blocks), Iggy Bielobradek (5 kills, 8 digs, 2 aces), Francisco Cervantes (25 assists, 8 points) and Liam Reilley (9 digs, 16 service receptions) and Thomas Dixon (16 service receptions).

RBHS track and field

The RBHS girls compete at the MSC Meet on May 5 at Aurora Central Catholic.

At the Oak Forest Invite on April 27, the Bulldogs’ 3,200-meter relay of Lara Huns, Bryce Pacourek, Jojo Rodriguez and Gianna Gelb was second (10:46.86). 

Gelb (5:46.73) and Maria Dalton (6:06.95) were third and fifth in the 1,600, Maia Nelson was sixth in the 3,200 (13:21.48) and Pacourek (400 in 1:06.05), Sophie Singh (300 low hurdles in 56.31) and Sophia Richter (6-0 in pole vault) were seventh. 

The RBHS boys competed at the Homewood-Flossmoor Invite on April 28. Evan McMullen was sixth in the 3,200 (10:39.54). Jackson Drumheller (200 in 24.20) and Eamon Ryan (400 in 56.98) were 10th.
