Vladimir “Laddie” Vanek, 92, of LaGrange Park, died May 14, 2023.
Mr. Vanek served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and worked as an industrial manager in the manufacturing industry.
He was a past board member and advocated for several community organizations including but not limited to Riverside Rotary, LaGrange Park/Brookfield Lions Club, Pioneers, Proviso Township, Sokol, Senior Handyman Program and many of their subsidiaries.
Mr. Vanek was the husband of Lorraine Vanek (nee Fortino); the father Valerie Schoenberg, Victoria (Patrick) McManus and Leane (the late Ronald) Jones; the grandfather Gabriela Schoenberg, Kylie McManus, Fiona McManus, Hilary Jones and Richard Jones; the brother of the late Miroslav (Camille) Vanek; and the uncle and great uncle of many.
Visitation is Friday, May 19, from 3 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, May 20 from 10:30 a.m. to time of service at 11 a.m. at Hitzeman Funeral Home, 9445 31st St., Brookfield. Interment is at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside.
