Riverside-Brookfield High School senior Bryce Pacourek duplicated her 800-meter run performance in her return to the IHSA Class 3A girls track and field state meet on May 19.

Pacourek ran another lifetime-best of 2 minutes, 19.28 seconds to finish 20th in preliminaries at Eastern Illinois University after being seeded 35th of 36 qualifiers with her then second-fastest 2:22.81 at sectionals.

“I was extremely excited to end my high school running career with a [personal record],” Pacourek said. “One thing that helped me run faster was the higher level of competition. I was able to run with a lot of talented girls, which allowed me to push harder to chase them down.”

Pacourek continually made strides from taking 19th at state in 2022 (2:27.02) after a then-best 2:26.82 at sectionals.

Her time on May 19 bested her 2:21.99 from April. Also a four-time state qualifier in cross country, Pacourek will continue running at St. Thomas.
