Edward J. Satala Sr., 95, of La Grange and formerly of LaGrange Park, died June 29, 2023.
Mr. Satala served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a long-time member of the Masons Sunrise Lodge 996, Scottish Rite, Medinah Shriners, Shriners Hospital for Children, Dobrovsky Club and was a Eucharistic Minister at LaGrange Hospital for 25 years. He worked in real estate as an associate broker.
He was the husband of 68 years to Lois Satala (nee Vodraska); the father of Edward J. Satala Jr., Sheryl (John) Grever and Mark (Stacy) Satala; the grandfather of Matthew (Bridget) Grever, Philip Satala, Laura (Nicholas) Roth, Adam Satala, Kristen Satala, Tara Satala and Anna Satala; the great grandfather of Henry, Colin, Charlie, James and Emma; and the brother of the late John Satala Jr. and Frank Satala.
Visitation is Thursday, July 6 from 3 to 8 p.m., with a Masonic service at 7 p.m., at Hitzeman Funeral Home, 9445 31st St., Brookfield. Additional visitation will be held Friday, July 7 from 9 to 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Louise de Marillac Church, La Grange Park. Entombment is at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside.
