The Riverside-Brookfield High School boys golf team has been as hot as some of last week’s temperatures.

RBHS coach Jim Festle said the Bulldogs (5-1) achieved their lowest score in probably seven years, Aug. 28, in edging Timothy Christian, 155-157, at Meadows Blue Island, followed by road victories over Elmwood Park for the second time this season, 158-191 Aug. 29, and Morton, 166-215 Thursday.
Joey Garvey (37) and Connor Dominick (38) led the way against Timothy. Josh Udelson and Cal Milchhoefer each shot 40.
With scores from Garvey (37), Dominick and Brady McCallum (39s) and Ben O’Brien (43) against Elmwood Park, RBHS went under 160 for the second straight dual meet.
Dominick (39), McCallum (40), Nate Stanard (42) and Ben O’Brien (45) were the Bulldogs’ scorers against Morton.

The Bulldogs (5-6) placed fifth at the Grayslake Central Invitational, beating Vernon Hills 26-24, 25-17; Elgin 25-12, 25-18; and Wisconsin Lutheran, 25-18, 23-25, 15-8; while losing to Carmel 25-27, 25-17, 15-8 and Grayslake North 27-26, 26-24.
Season leaders include Sofia Owens (44 kills), Lucy Boyle (39 kills), Claire Cameron (120 assists, 19 aces), Kelley Tyler (83 digs, 177 service receptions), Mackenzie Sloger (29 kills), Emily Organ (26 kills) and Addie Blomgren (21 blocks).
Blomgren had four kills and Owens three kills and three aces against Vernon Hills.
Sloger (4 kills, 3 aces), Annabel Krueger (3 kills, 3 aces) and Cameron (14 assists) paced the victory over Elgin.
Boyle (8 kills, 4 aces, 7 digs), Tyler (18 digs) and Cameron (20 assists) helped RBHS outlast Wisconsin Lutheran. Sloger had seven kills and six digs against Carmel. Owens had five kills against Grayslake North.

The Bulldogs (4-1) enjoyed a pair of Upstate Eight Conference home dual victories at Flagg Creek, 170-202, over West Chicago Friday and 171-178 over Glenbard South, Aug. 28.
Senior Mayan Covarrubias was medalist in both duals. The Bulldogs also took the 2-3-4 places against West Chicago with Lucia Vazzana, Taryn Schultz and Tali Schultz.
Vazzana also was third overall against Glenbard South.
