David W. Gustafson, 70, of Elk Grove Village, formerly of Evanston, Skokie and Riverside, died on Oct. 10, 2023. Born on March 28, 1953, in Riverside, he was a 1971 graduate of Riverside-Brookfield High School. He earned a B.S. degree from the University of Illinois Chicago and worked his entire career in the sheet metal industry. He served as a council member at Ascension Lutheran Church in Riverside and was an avid golfer, bowler and 16-inch softball player.
David was the son of the late Einar and the late Ruth (nee Strid) Gustafson; the brother of Mel (Kris), Phil (Sue) and Glenn (Carol); uncle of Jim (Lynn) Gustafson, Cherie Gustafson, Meg (Jonathan Solomon) Gustafson, Laura (Craig) Cypress, Julie McCarthy, Elizabeth (Matt) Schommer, and the late Kari Gustafson; and great-uncle of Owen, Carter, Libby, Archie and Camille.
Visitation was held on Oct. 15 at Kuratko-Nosek Funeral Home, 2447 S. Desplaines Ave., North Riverside. Funeral Mass was celebrated on Oct. 16 at Ascension Lutheran Church, Riverside, followed by interment at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery, Oak Brook Terrace.
