Thursday Afternoon Movie

Come on down the Riverside Township Hall this Thursday for a PG movie! “The Ghost and Mrs. Muir” will be playing for this special movie day. The movie runs for a little under an hour and 45 minutes. Gene Tierney, Rex Harrison, Natalie Wood, George Sanders and more act in an American supernatural romantic fantasy film that was released in 1947. This movie is a perfect after-Halloween flick because who wants to say goodbye to Halloween so soon? Wines in the Wild

Enjoy some booze in the Zoo’s Discovery Center this weekend. Wines in the Wild is sponsored by the Chicago Zoological Society and will be purveyed by Prestige Countryside Liquors and SSA Group. Prestige Liquors will handle all your drinking needs from wineries and distilleries across the United State, whereas SSA Group will provide hors d’oeuvres. The fundraiser will feature a silent auction and a show to meet and greet some of the Zoo’s animals. Funds raised by the event will go toward the education, conservation, and scholarship programming needs for the Women’s Board of the Chicago Zoological Society. 8400 31st St.

Ames Elementary School Fall Auction

Calling all Ames students, parents, and neighbors! Ames Elementary will be having their fall auction Friday, which will be full of Ames community members coming together for the cause of the school. This night will call participants to bid on exclusive items and experiences, connect with the community, and support the future of Ames. Food and drink will be provided so feel free to come hungry! Fun fact: This upcoming year marks 100 wonderful years of Ames. Ames encourages everyone to come dressed in their best Gatsby attire to represent the year 1924, when the school opened. Supreme Court Decisions Presentation

The League of Women Voters of the La Grange Area is sponsoring a presentation that will feature recent Supreme Court decisions. This presentation will educate people on what the rulings are and what they mean. This is an amazing opportunity considering every decision affects some part of everyone’s lives. Additionally, it is very important to know what is going on in the country. LWV member Jan Goldberg will discuss 2022-23 cases including affirmative action cases: Students for Fair Admissions v. Harvard and Students for Fair Admissions v. University of North Carolina; Student Loans: Biden v. Nebraska and Dept. of Education v. Brown; and Independent State Legislature Theory: Moore v. Harper.
