Jay Henry Deakin, 84, formerly of Kingston, Tennessee and North Riverside, died on Nov. 1, 2023. Born on May 28, 1939, in Susquehanna, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Henry and Faye Deakin. He graduated from Susquehanna High School in 1957 and served in the U.S. Army before retiring from IBM after 30 years of service. He was a member of Bradbury United Methodist Church in Kingston, and a dedicated Mason for 50 years in the Susquehanna PA Lodge, where he achieved master rank in 1969.
Jay was the husband of the late Jean M. (nee Mess); father of William Jon (Lisa Diehlmann) Deakin, Robert M. Deakin, and the late Jayese Marie Deakin; grandfather of Chloe A. Deakin, Ava L. Deakin, Henry S. Deakin, Annabelle H. Deakin, Isabella N. Neeley, and the late Johanna Deakin; brother of Lorraine Deakin Jackson, Jon H. Deakin, the late Winifred Deakin Matthews, and the late Carol Deakin Doerr; uncle of many nieces and nephews. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Cremation will be private.
