The Riverside American Legion Post #488 has announced that one of its own, Don Farnham, will be honored for his service on the ice at the United Center during the National Anthem prior to the Chicago Blackhawks' game against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday, Feb. 16 at 7:30 p.m.

Before every home game, the Blackhawks roll out the red carpet and invite three veterans to honor for the anthem, which is sung by operatic baritone Jim Cornelison.

Don Farnham, who was instrumental in getting Riverside's Cable TV Commission off the ground and remained one of its commissioners until 2016 – retiring at the age of 90.

He's was an Emmy Award-winning cameraman for ABC-TV for 45 years, a career that was inspired by his time as a U.S. Marine, where he was a naval artillery spotter/radioman who landed on Iwo Jima on Feb. 19, 1945.

Farnham's appearance on the ice on Feb. 15 marks nearly 74 years to the day of his landing on the black sands of Iwo Jima.

The game will be telecast in NBC Sports Chicago.
