VIP mayoral candidate Hubert Hermanek recently met with members of the North Riverside Firefighter's Union Local 2714, at their January 2013 meeting. Hermanek was invited by union members to discuss his priorities as mayor, and the VIP platform specifically regarding North Riverside firefighters during a recent quarterly meeting.

"The members of the North Riverside Firefighter's Union Local 2714 provide protective and essential services to families not only in our Village, but also through mutual aid to the surrounding communities," Hubert Hermanek said. "Firefighters have an immense responsibility to the residents and Villages they serve. To that end, I believe open and respectful communication between the leadership of North Riverside and the firefighters is imperative in achieving an efficient, cooperative and professional department."

The North Riverside Firefighter's Union Local 2714 was chartered in 1979. The North Riverside Fire Department is comprised of 18 professional firefighters and 6 contracted paramedics. The department is part of Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS) Division 11, which is comprised of Berwyn, Cicero, Forest Park, Oak Park, River Forest and Stickney.

The VIP Candidates for the April 9th Election are Hubert Hermanek, President; Kathleen Ranieri, Clerk; Matthew J. Decosola, Trustee; Joseph Mengoni, Trustee; and Vera A. Wilt, Trustee.
