Plunging for dollars

Lyons Township High School successfully defended its "Cool School" title for the eighth consecutive year in the Polar Plunge for Special Olympics of Illinois last month.  A total of 37 students and three staff members took the plunge at Northwestern University's beach in Evanston and raised over $22,500. LT Aviation teacher Dave Root claimed the "Golden Plunger" for being the top individual fundraiser for the third consecutive year with a 2020 total of $3,616. The top student fundraiser was junior Andrew Cmelo, of LaGrange Park, who brought in $2,775.
