Lyons police are investigating a shooting inside a gun shop located on the 8500 block of Plainfield Road. Officers were called to the Midwest gun shop at about 1:55 p.m. Tuesday after a gun discharged inside the store, which also houses a first floor shooting range.

When officers arrived, they located a subject who appeared to have suffered a serious head wound. The victim was taken to Loyal University Medical Center and was listed in critical condition.

Police remain on the scene interviewing witnesses and reviewing video surveillance footage from the gun store. They are treating the incident as a possible accidental shooting.

Police have not released any further information on the identity of the victim.
