Gustav (Gus) Baumgart, 92, of Riverside, died on Jan. 17, 2019 at the Scottish Home in North Riverside.
Born on Oct.15, 1926 in Chicago, he attended grade school and high school in Chicago before serving proudly in the U.S. Army between 1944 and 1945, including service on Okinawa.
Following his military service, Mr. Baumgart was employed by Western Electric for 27 years. He was an avid gardener and longtime member and usher at St. Mary Church in Riverside and loyal Cubs and Bears fan.
He will be missed by many friends and neighbors. Mr. Baumgart was the son of the late Gustave and the late Karolina Baumgart.
A funeral Mass was celebrated Jan. 22 at St. Mary Church in Riverside, followed by interment at St. Mary Cemetery.
