Arlene M. Cihlar, 83, of North Riverside, died Dec. 29, 2012 at her home.

Born in Oak Park on May 24, 1929 to Mae (nee Vendel) and Anthony J. Cihlar Sr., she worked as a registered nurse prior to retirement. She also played the piano and organ and enjoyed family activities and attending musicals, plays and fireworks shows.

She was the sister of Audrey (the late Ronald) Votava and the late Anthony J. (the late Jeanette) Cihlar Jr.; the aunt of Jacqueline (Mike) Gale, Julie (Jon) Bean, Lynette Cihlar, Dannine Johnson, Craig (Paulette) Cihlar and Kimberly (Mike) Schlacks; and the "auntie" of Randy Gale, Jeremy Gale, Spencer Mehr, Matthew Mehr, Ian Bean, Asa Bean, Kari (Shivan) Tekwani, Dylan Tekwani, Kira Tekwani, Korry Johnson, Stephanie Cihlar, Brian Cihlar, Jennifer Cihlar, Kevin Cihlar, Alex Schlacks, Scott Schlacks and Rick Vendel.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Jan. 3, 2013 at Mater Christi Church in North Riverside, followed by interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.

Kuratko-Nosek Funeral Home, North Riverside, handled arrangements.
