The Riverside Brookfield football team got back to its overpowering ways with a 49-6 thumping of Elmwood Park on Friday night.

The Bulldogs (3-4, 2-2) took a 36-0 lead by halftime with the dynamic duo of senior quarterback Chris Pesek and wide receiver Mike Razniewski converting on three touchdowns. Razniewski (10 catches, 245 yards, 3 TDs) caught TD passes of 30, 40, and 57 yards from Pesek, who finished 19-of-26 for 322 yards and four touchdowns.

RB held Elmwood Park (3-4, 1-2) scoreless until the fourth quarter.

The Bulldogs will try and grab another win in the Metro Suburban Conference when they host Ridgewood Friday night (7 p.m.) for Homecoming.

LT girls win regional title

The Lyons Township girls golf team, still reeling from an impressive second-place finish at last year’s state tournament, won the Class AA St. Ignatius Regional at Cog Hill last week.

Led by the play of Alyssa Gaudio and Heather Grant the Lions garnered a team score of 319. Despite cold and blustery weather conditions, Gaudio came through with a 76, while Grant finished with a 77.

Lyons was also supported by Tracy Beers (81), Amanda Paul (85), Brittany Anselmo (91), and Caileen Coleman (93).

The team competed in the St. Ignatius Sectional at George Dunn National Golf Course in Oak Forest yesterday (after deadline).

Joyce medals at regional

Fenwick’s Lisa Joyce shot a 2-over-par 74 at Cog Hill to finish as the medalist and help her team take second at the Class AA St. Ignatius Regional last week.

The Friars managed to secure a team score of 354, good for third place.

Other Fenwick players that qualified for the St. Ignatius Sectional included: Eileen Sullivan (90), Nicole Mentone (95), Laura Yeager (95), Cara Kielty (108) and Kit Walsh (113).
