Raymond F. O'Donnell Jr.

Raymond F. O’Donnell Jr., 90, a longtime resident of Riverside, died on Oct. 9, 2020 surrounded by his beloved family. 

Mr. O’Donnell was born on Oct. 11, 1929 in Chicago and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Army National Honor Guard. Mr. O’Donnell was also a great athlete and loved his sports teams, especially the Arizona Cardinals, Chicago White Sox and Chicago Bulls.  

He was a proud member of Old St. Pat’s where he also graduated from high school and was a member of the Naturals Men’s Club where he developed so many wonderful friendships. 

Mr. O’Donnell was preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy O’Donnell (nee Ferguson); his daughter, Julie O’Donnell; his parents, Catherine and Raymond O’Donnell Sr.; his sister, Jayne Zine; his brother, Thomas O’Donnell; as well as several beloved in-laws, nephews and friends.

He will be dearly missed by all who knew him and is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen O’Donnell (nee Creadon) and his children, Raymond (Lisa) O’Donnell, Shawna (Tom) Reidy, Ralph (Jane) O’Donnell, Susan (Larry) Zdarsky and Patsy O’Donnell (David Faber) as well as his grandchildren, Wesley, Steven, Nicholas, Bradley, Connor, Liam, Reilly and Alexa. 

Funeral Mass is private and will be livestreamed on Wednesday, Oct. 14 at 10:30 a.m. on the Old St. Pat’s website (oldstpats.org). Interment is at Queen of Heaven Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates donations to The Scottish Home, 2800 Desplaines Ave., North Riverside, 60546 and to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in honor of his daughter Julie.
