Robert J. Peters, 78, attorney at law and 46-year resident of Riverside, died Oct. 10, 2020.

Mr. Peters was born Aug. 23, 1942 and was a graduate of Morton West High School's Class of 1960, where he excelled in baseball and football. He was a baseball pitcher at Knox College and received his law degree from the University of Illinois at Champaign Law School class of 1967. 

He was a 30-year member of the Riverside Fire and Police Commission, former treasurer of the Riverside Swim Club and a former board member of Riverside Little League and the Frederick Law Olmsted Society. He was also an avid reader and golfer, loved sports, especially the Bears and White Sox.

Mr. Peters was the husband of Carole (nee DeLuca); the father of Amelia "Amy" (Jason Stanislaw) Peters and Michael Peters; the grandfather of Charles "Charlie" Robert Stanislaw; the brother of the late John (Eva) Peters; and "Uncle Bob" to many. 

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the funeral Mass is private and will be livestreamed on the St. Mary Church website (stmaryriverside.org – click on Pastoral Care) on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2020 at 10 a.m. Interment is private. 

In lieu of flowers, donations to American Diabetes or National Kidney Foundation appreciated. 

Arrangements were handled by The Original Kuratko Family, Brian D. Kuratko, director.
