Lions run off with 11th place

The Lyons Township girls' cross-country team made a statement at the Class AA State Meet at Detweiller Park in Peoria on Saturday: The Lions will be back.

The young Lions finished 11th place overall with a final team score of 317. Led by sophomore Jane Simpson's 21st place finish in 17:36, LT made a respectable finish despite having just three seniors in the race.

Keegan Kilrea finished behind her fellow sophomore in 18:38, good for 83rd place. Other top finishers included seniors Jessica Lee (18:48, 102nd place), Katie Flaherty (18:55, 121st) and Lauren Clark (18:59, 128th).

Freshman Meggie McDonald made her State debut with a time of 19:03 (134th). Junior Christine Farrell, a junior, took 157th place in 19:11.

Naperville North won the State Meet with a score of 105.

Nachel races to 11th place overall

Jacob Nachel closed out his high school cross-country career with an 11th place finish in 14:37 at the boys' Class AA State Meet. Nachel led the boys' LT team to a 17th place finish (451).

Other top finishers included Jake Discipio (15:53, 134th), Neil Driscol (15:56, 143rd), Bill Falotico (15:59, 157th), and Danny De Rock (16:01, 165th).
