Ralph Nikischer, 63, of Marseilles, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 13, 2020 at his home.

A memorial service was held Feb. 18 at the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa, with Rev. David Kipfer, pastor of Ottawa Catholic Parishes, officiating.

Ralph was born on July 28, 1956 in Chicago, to Joseph and Rachel (Bonello Nellis) Nikischer. He was a police officer in Riverside and later worked for the Fraternal Order of Police for 24 years. Ralph was married to Victoria Moore; their anniversary was May 8. He was a member of St. Columba Church. Ralph loved his dogs, especially playing with them and training them. He was also a huge fan of the White Sox, and loved going to the games. Ralph also enjoyed playing with his granddaughter, and taking her for walks around the block.

He is survived by his wife, Victoria; four children, Brian, Vanessa, Jamie and Robert, Nikischer; two granddaughters, Eva and Evelyn; three children from a previous marriage, John Nikischer, Mary Kress, and Ralph Nikischer Jr.; and a half-sister, Marilyn Nellis Lozano.

He was preceded in death by his mother, and his uncle Jim “Bones” Bonello, who had always treated Ralph like a son. Memorials may be directed to the family.
