Gerald E. Miller, 85, electrical engineer

Gerald E. Miller, 85, a longtime resident of Brookfield, died Feb. 15, 2013 at HCR-ManorCare Nursing Home in Hinsdale.

Mr. Miller served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He and his family moved to Brookfield in 1949. For 40 years, he worked as an electrical engineer for Commonwealth Edison, retiring in 1987.

He was a member of the Brookfield Moose Lodge #1599 and Brookfield VFW Post #2868. He also enjoyed stamp collecting, traveling and reading.

Mr. Miller was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley M. Miller (nee Soderholm), on Oct. 22, 2011. He is survived by his daughter, Kathy (Steven) Behrens; his grandchildren, Michelle (Neil) Sexton and Michael (Aby) Justinich; and his great-grandchildren, Samantha Sexton, Alannah Justinich and Dylan Justinich.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Feb. 20 at 10:30 a.m. at Johnson Funeral Home, 3847 Prairie Ave. in Brookfield, followed by interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
