David W. Sovereign, 83, a longtime resident of North Riverside, died Feb. 23, 2013 at Adventist LaGrange Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Sovereign served in the U.S. Navy from 1948-49 and later worked as a truck driver for 30 years, first with Jackson Moving and Storage in LaGrange from 1965 to 1990 and then for Pickens-Kane Movers in Chicago from 1990 until his retirement in 1995. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 705, and he lived in North Riverside since 1967.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Sovereign on Jan. 28, 2005. Mr. Sovereign is survived by his son, Stephen (Debra) Sovereign; his stepdaughter, Joan Anderson; his grandchildren, Jeremy Sovereign, Jordan Sovereign and Melissa Anderson; his great-grandson, Dakota Sovereign; his sister, Elizabeth Hayes; and his brothers, Eugene Sovereign and John Sovereign.

Visitation will be on Monday, March 4 from 6 p.m. until the time of an 8 p.m. funeral service at Johnson Funeral Home, 3847 Prairie Ave. in Brookfield. Interment will be on Tuesday, March 5 at 11 a.m. at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.
