Anne N. Jackson

Anne Nathan Jackson (nee Johns), 78, died Jan. 28, 2019. She was born Feb. 8, 1940 in the small town of Brundidge, Alabama to the late Oscar & Victoria Johns. Anne had three brothers, Jeff, Budd and Joseph and two sisters, Inez and Mary, who all preceded her in death.

Ms. Jackson attended and graduated from D.A. Smith High School in Alabama in 1959. In 1960, she moved to Connecticut and worked as an indentured servant. After a short period, she returned to Alabama, married George Adams and moved to Chicago. 

From this union three children were born: Anthony G. Adams, Traci N. Adams and the late Andre Adams. While in Chicago, Ms. Jackson had a stint of jobs from Montgomery Wards, McCormick Place and finally Cook County Hospital. 

In the early 1970s, she met and married James E. Jackson, who preceded her in death, and from this union Kimberly L. Jackson (Mitchell) was born. 

In the late seventies, Anne partnered with co-worker and husband James and opened a pizza place named Pizza Kingdom on the eastside of Chicago. The business flourished for years, but due to unfortunate circumstances, Anne left the business and returned to Cook County Hospital where she retired after over 33 years of dedicated service.

After retirement, Ms. Jackson felt that she needed to return to work to fill a void because she knew nothing but work from such an early age, so she worked at UPS. She then went on to work at Sundberg, until her decline in health

She is survived by her son, Anthony G. Adams of Chicago; two daughters, Traci N. Adams of Chicago and Kimberly L. (Al) Mitchell of Brookfield; six grandchildren, Danielle Adams, NoeLoni Adams, Quintel Adams, Olivia Mitchell, Anne-Marie Mitchell and NeVaeh Mitchell; two great-grandchildren, Mercutio Adams and Xunii Adams; a special niece, Marcella (Terry) McMillan of Cincinnati, Ohio and family; as well as a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and church family.

Lying in state Saturday, Feb. 9 from 10 a.m. to time of service at 11 a.m. at Naperville Church of Christ, 2035 East 75th St., Naperville. Interment is private.
