Gladys E. Kreml, 97, a longtime resident of Riverside, LaGrange Park and Pompano Beach, Fla., died March 4, 2014.

Ms. Kreml was a past member of the Riverside Golf Club, Riverside Presbyterian Church, the Riverside chapter of the Infant Welfare Society, the Elks of Pompano Beach and the Community Church of Lauderdale by the Sea.

She enjoyed painting, knitting, bridge, watching sports and spending time with her family and her dog, Charlie. She was a golfer with an innate ability to putt and a boater who loved to driver her pontoon boat. Throughout her life, she was the captain of her family and life.

Ms. Kreml was preceded in death by her husband of 75 years, Eugene Kreml. She was the mother of Gail (the late Harry) Tjardes, Gary (Carol) Kreml, Gwenn (Bill) Smith and Ginger (Don) Zeman; the grandmother of 13 and the great-grandmother of 24.

A celebration of her life will be held in the summer.

Memorial donations are appreciated to the Community Church of Lauderdale by the Sea, 4433 Bougainvilla Dr., Lauderdale by the Sea, Fla., 33062.
