Henry Guevara, 61, North Riverside paramedic/firefighter

Henry "Hank" Guevara, 61, of New Lenox, died March 23, 2014, after succumbing to brain cancer.

Mr. Guevara, an employee of Paramedic Services Inc., served the village of North Riverside as a paramedic/firefighter since 2000. In addition, he worked for the village as an emergency dispatcher and as a CPR and first-aid instructor for North Riverside residents, police, school staff and recreation department staff.

He also played Santa Claus at Komarek School and, until it closed, Mater Christi School, as well as serving as Santa on the fire department's annual Santa Run. Mr. Guevara also enjoyed golf, fishing, camping and spending time with his family.

Mr. Guevara was the husband of Mary Jo Lain-Guevara; the father of Mike and Matt Guevara and Jennifer Forsythe; the brother of Jose, Gloria, Frances and Robert; and the uncle of Heather, Christina, Joseph, Anthony, Matthew, Neil, David, Timothy, Sarah, Jerry, Athena and Ethan.

There will be a memorial visitation on Saturday, April 12 from noon to 5 p.m. at Kuratko-Nosek Funeral Home, 2447 Desplaines Ave. in North Riverside.
