Joseph Presecan, 84, a longtime resident of Brookfield, died April 9, 2013 at Gottlieb Memorial Hospital in Melrose Park.

Mr. Presecan lied about his age in order to serve in the U.S. Army during World War II. He then re-enlisted and was assigned to the new U.S. Air Force from 1946 to 1952. He was formerly a member of the American Legion and VFW.

He worked as a printer for many years for Saltzman Printers in Maywood. But for more than 40 years he owned Presecan Electric Co. in Brookfield. Mr. Presecan was an avid bike rider and physical fitness enthusiast. He also enjoyed repairing mechanical devices.

Mr. Presecan is survived by his wife, LaVerne J. Presecan (nee Stastny); his son, Kevin Presecan; and his grandson, Ethan Anthony Presecan.

A funeral Mass was celebrated April 16 at St. Barbara Church in Brookfield, followed by interment at Abraham Lincoln Cemetery in Elwood.

Johnson Funeral Home, Brookfield, handled arrangements.
