Bernice M. Schloeder, 96, a longtime resident of North Riverside, died April 22, 2013 at her home.

Ms. Schloeder lived in North Riverside since 1949. She received a master’s degree in library science from Rosary College (now Dominican University) in River Forest in 1964.

She was a manager at LaSalle Bank in Chicago, when she decided to go back to school and change career paths. For 25 years she worked as a teacher and librarian at Morton West High School in Berwyn. Ms. Schloeder was a very avid reader, who enjoyed studying world history, socializing with friends, quilting and photography. He was also an avid traveler who went of seven round-the-world trips and visited all seven continents.

Ms. Schloeder was a member of the Morton Educators Retirees Club, Delta Kappa Gamma education sorority, the Chicago Geological Society and the DePaul Geological Society.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John P. Schloeder, on Dec. 30, 1989. She leaves behind many friends.

A funeral Mass was celebrated April 27 at Mater Christi Church in North Riverside, followed by interment at St. Boniface Cemetery in Chicago.
