John J. Tangorra, 87, of North Riverside, died April 1, 2014 in Maywood.

Mr. Tangorra was born in Chicago on Sept. 21, 1926. He served in the U.S. Army and later worked as a laborer for the city of Chicago.

He was the husband of the late Concetta M. Tangorra (nee DiTuri); the father of Joanne (Guy) Suba; the grandfather of Michael (Adriana), Christopher (Ashley), Matthew and John; the great-grandfather of Emma; the brother of Nicoletta (Kenneth) Hoff, the late Michael, late Vito (late Anna), late Sophia (late Anthony) Corvino, late Frances Spata, and the late Joanne (late Ralph) Bonavolante; the son-in-law of Vincenza DiTuri; the brother-in-law of Connie (Edward) Karlovic; and the uncle of many.

A funeral Mass was celebrated April 7 at Mater Christi Church in North Riverside, followed by interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.

Memorial donations are appreciated to the Alzheimer's Association, 8430 W. Bryn Mawr, Suite 800, Chicago, Ill. 60631.
