Ann V. Newton (nee Skodis), 96, of Wausau, Wisconsin, and formerly of Illinois, died June 8, 2014 at the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Wausau.

She was born Feb. 4, 1917 in Chicago to Walter and Mary Skodis. On April 13, 1935, she married Albert Newton in Wayne City, Michigan. Mr. Newton preceded his wife in death.

For many years, Ms. Newton worked as a secretary for the Western Electric Company.

Ms. Newton is survived by her son, Albert (Marilyn) Newton Jr.; her daughter-in-law, Becky Newton; her grandchildren, Marianne (Jason) Suelzer-Wunsch, Gregory (Liz) Suelzer, Kim (Jim) Gara of Brookfield, Pam (Bret) Kooi, Sandy Pothast of Brookfield, Eric (Karen) Newton and Todd (Marcie) Newton; and 14 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Ms. Newton was preceded in death by her children, J.R. Newton and Marilyn Suelzer, and her sisters, Mary Stephen and Estelle Powell.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 21 at the Oakridge-Glen Oak Cemetery, 4301 W. Roosevelt Road in Hillside.
