Kathleen "Kitty" Gaughan (nee Hayden), 97, of Brookfield, died June 8, 2020.

Ms. Gaughan was born Feb. 11, 1923 on a farm in in Oldleighlin, County Carlow, Ireland to Eamon and Anne (nee Doran) Hayden. She was one of nine children.

She never was at a loss for companionship, and her childhood tales are the fabric of Irish lore. Kitty traveled to London to get her nursing certificate and then immigrated to America where she married her long-term sweetheart, John T. Gaughan, who preceded his wife in death.

From her family, her furry friends and her gardens, she did it well, always bringing that glorious Irish smile to make you feel safe and loved.

Ms. Gaughan was the mother of the late John J., Edmund (Susan), the late Kevin, Gerald and Barry (Maureen); the grandmother of Kenzie, Shane, Gerald, Ashley, Jack, Layla, Dayton Darby; and the great grandmother Owen.

Due to COVID-19 regulations, the family has elected to keep visitation and services Private for family members. Interment is at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside.
