Elmer A. "Al" Fischer, 96, a longtime resident of Brookfield, died May 26, 2013.
Mr. Fischer served in the U.S. Army during World War II. After the war, he worked for the Bell & Thom manufacturing company, retiring after 46 years as the company's treasurer and chief financial officer.
A lifelong Chicago White Sox fan and an avid golfer, Mr. Fischer passed along his love of baseball and golf to his grandsons. Family members will also miss his sense of humor, along with his "dance," "wave" and "salute." He lived in Brookfield for 59 years.
Mr. Fischer is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marjorie M. "Marge" Fischer (nee Jaros). He was the father of Sandra (Nicholas) Sempowicz; the grandfather of Nicholas A. Sempowicz and Mitchell L. Sempowicz; the brother-in-law of Lester (Grace) Jaros and the late Elmer (Lee) Jaros; the uncle of Rodney Jaros and David Jaros; and his caregiver, Svetlana Marzoyeva.
Services have been held. Interment was at Bohemian National Cemetery in Chicago.
