George Sanker, 97, retired tool and die maker

George Sanker, 97, of Lyons and formerly a longtime resident of Brookfield, died June 28, 2014 at his home.

Mr. Sanker lived in Brookfield from 1960 to 2007. For 60 years he worked as a tool and die maker, both with the Sunbeam Corporation in Chicago and Ty Miles Inc. in Westchester, retiring in 1995.

He was a member of the Brookfield Moose Lodge and enjoyed dancing and traveling.

Mr. Sanker was preceded in death by his wife, Helen A. Sanker (nee Jirka) and his daughter, Sharon Sanker.

He is survived by his daughter, Sandra (Ken) Blackwell, six grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and many great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 2 from 9 a.m. until the time of an 11 a.m. service at Johnson Funeral Home, 3845-47 Prairie Ave. in Brookfield, followed by interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.

Memorial donations are appreciated to the American Cancer Society.
