The Riverside Junior Woman’s Club has chosen Cindy Vitek, of Riverside, as the club’s 2004-05 Junior of the Year. As third vice president and hostess, Vitek was instrumental in bringing about some exciting changes to the club in the past year.

Vitek added a new dimension to the club’s monthly charity collections, focusing on a different needy recipient each month. Over 600 stuffed animals were donated to pediatric surgery patients at Stroger Hospital, numerous pairs of shoes were donated to third world and poverty-stricken U.S. recipients via “Share Your Soles” and Riverside residents riding the Burlington rails can now enjoy the book exchange that has been established in the Riverside train depot.

Utilizing members’ culinary skills to the fullest, Vitek transformed the club’s monthly social hours into themed food fests, providing each member with the recipes for all of the items that were served by their fellow Junior Women.

Following through with her primary hobby, Vitek is co-chairing the Riverside Junior Woman’s Club cookbook, which includes 200 recipes donated by area residents, their families and friends, as well as famous local chefs. The cookbook will be available in October, for a cost of $20.

Anyone wishing to contribute to the cookbook, can forward recipes to Vitek at cindyvitek
