Paul Welk, 84, a resident of the Carillon community of Plainfield and a former longtime resident of Brookfield, died June 30, 2014 at his home.

Mr. Welk served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956 and for 35 years owned Welarm Co., a wholesale industrial equipment company, in Brookfield, where he lived from 1964 to 1997. He retired in 2009.

He was also an avid Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed bowling, solving crossword puzzles, fishing, golfing and doing electrical repairs.

He was the husband of Elizabeth Welk (nee Kramer); the father of Della (Michael) Kelly, David Welk, Ronald (Suzanne) Welk and Randall (Vanessa) Welk; and the grandfather of Steven Kelly, Colleen Kelly, Lucas Welk, Benjamin Welk, Alexander Welk, Jeremy Welk, Megan Welk, Zachary Welk, Madeline Welk and Sarah Welk.

A funeral Mass was celebrated July 7 at St. Barbara Church in Brookfield, followed by interment at Abraham Lincoln Cemetery in Elwood.

Memorial donations are appreciated to the American Heart Association.
